In reply to your letter of the 30th April respecting the supply of Breech Loading Arms for the members of the police force at Hong Kong,

I am directed by Mr. Secretary Cardwell to acquaint you that the following descriptions of arms are considered suitable for the force in question, and 250 of either kind could be supplied by this department on repayment, together with such quantity of ammunition as may be required, viz.:

Artillery Carbines

Short Rifles { Army Naval

Approximate cost
